What are the 5 pathways D2 receptor blockade affects and what are the implications for side effects?
A
alpha adreno receptors- hypothermia
Tubuloinfundibular pathway- affects pituitary gland and causes raised prolactin in turn causing gynaecomastia, weight gain, impotence etc
Muscarinic blockade- causes dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation
Nigrostriatal system- causes all movement disorders
Limbic system- psychological effects
