Adverse events of diuretics
- hypokalemia (get rid of too much K+)
- metabolic alkalosis (not getting rid of bicarb)
AE of Beta-blocker
Conduction delay since negative inotrope
AE of ACEi/ARB
Hyperkalemia (not getting rid of K+ since suppressing ATII and aldo)
AE of Alpha-2 agonist
Lots of CNS effects => sedation and dementia => contraindicated in geriatric pts
AE of alpha-1 antagonists
1st dose effect of orthostasis => take first dose in bed
AE of Non-dihydropyridine CCBs
= Verapamil and Diltiazem
- Constipation (esp from Verapamil)
- negative inotrope => conduction delays
AE of dihydropyridine CCBs
-edema and headaches from the vasodilation
