Antenna Measurements Flashcards

1
Q

Antenna Azimuth

A

Horizontal point angle of the Antenna relative to True North.
0 Degress = North
90 Degress = East
Omnidirectional = Azimuth is 0

CPI installation, recommended to use the FCC Calculator to determine azimuth based on base station location.

Q

Antenna Azimuth

A

If magnetic declination indicates an East value, add to compass measurements

If West, subtract value from compass measurements.

Q

Antenna Downtilt

A

How far down (or up) the antenna is pointing.
Whole Numbers between -90 - 90 Degress
Negative = Tilted above Horizontal (towards the sky)
Positive = Tilted below Horizontal (towards the ground)

Semi circle with degree markings used for measurements
No reference, use a digital level or inclinometer

Q

Antenna Gain

A

Ratio of actual radiated power to conducted power.
Between -127 and +128 dBi

If represents in dBd, CPI shall add 2.15 to get the value in dBi
If it’s a fractional number, round to the nearest whole number

Q

Antenna Beamwidth

A

Measure of the spread of the antenna pattern (how “wide”)
Between 0 and 360
If Omnidirectional = 360
Use the 3 dB beamwidth of the antenna
