Anatomy & Physiology Flashcards
1
Q
Atrium:
A
The atria (top chambers) are thin-walled chambers where blood enters the heart.
2
Q
Ventricle
A
: The ventricles (bottom chambers) are thick-walled chambers which push blood away from the heart.
3
Q
artery
A
- A blood vessel that carries oxygen-rich blood from the heart to tissues and organs in the body.
4
Q
vein
A
A blood vessel that carries oxygen-poor blood to the heart from tissues and organs in the body.
5
Q
capillary
A
- The smallest type of blood vessel that connects small arteries to small veins.
6
Q
septum
A
- A wall of tissue that separates the left and right sides of the heart
7
Q
valve
