amino acid activation Flashcards
1
Q
amino acid activation
A
o Each amino acid is linked to a specific tRNA before it can be used in protein synthesis
o At one end of each tRNA is a site where an amino acid is attached
o The other end is folded into a loop, with a sequence of three bases called as an anticodon
o Anticodon: 3 consecutive bases in tRNA, complementary to the codon of mRNA that codes for the specific amino acid
2
Q
features of amino acid activation
A
- Occurs in the cytoplasm
- Amino acids are activated by combining with tRNA
