Chivalric attitude to women

A

Chivalry is defined as polite and honest behaviour, particularly that of a man towards a woman.

Derived from the late Latin word caballarius (meaning ‘horseman’), the word connotates notions of knightly valour and heroism, rendering the woman in question the ‘damsel in distress’.
