What was bad about Rural America?
They were poor and the countryside was in a lot more rough conditions. Farming was difficult.

What was Prohibition?
In 1918, alcohol was banned in America. This could be seen negative
How would people get around this law?
Going to speakeasies - Places where people can go to illegally drink alcohol without the police finding out.
Why didn’t police stop it?
They knew they couldn’t because it was everywhere and people would’ve ignored them. Also because police probably broke this law themselves
Who was a notorious gangster at the time?
Al Capone
What did he do which made him a gangster?
He starting working odd jobs around Brooklyn where he met his mentor, gangster Johnny Torrio
What did he do when was in sixth grade?
His teacher hit him for insolence but Capone hit him back leading to him receiving a beating from the head master. He never went to school again
What was the name of the club in New York?
The Cotton Club which was the centre of clubbing in America at the time.
