Alzheimer's Disease Flashcards
Alzheimer’s Disease is?
- Form of Dementia
- Progressive memory loss & cognitive decline
- Decrease Acetylcholine due to neuritic plaques & tangles in brain tissue = altering NT signaling
MMSE < 24 OUT OF 30 = Memory disorder
Donepezil (Aricept) moa
Cholinesterase inhibitor
reversibly & noncompetitively inhibit centrally active acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme responsible for hydrolysis of acetylcholine
