trauma alert criteria blue and red
one red or two blue = trauma alert
adult trauma alert airway
red: active airway assistance required
blue: sustained respiratory rate > or equal to 30
adult trauma alert circulation
red: no radial pulse w/ sustained HR > or equal to 120 or BP < 90 systolic
blue: sustained heart rate > or equal to 120
adult trauma alert fractures
red: multiple long bone fracture sites
blue: single long bone fracture site due to mva or single long bone fracture site due to fall > or equal to 10 feet
adult trauma alert cutaneous
red: 2nd or 3rd degree burns > 15% BSA, electrical burns (high voltage direct lightning) regardless of TBSA, amputation proximal to wrist or ankle, penetrating injury to the head neck or torso
blue: major degloving, flap avulsion, > 5 inches or GSW to extremities
adult trauma alert best motor response
red: BMR < or equal to 4 or exhibits presence of paralysis, suspicion of spinal cord injury or loss of sensation
blue: BMR = 5
adult trauma alert MOI
blue: ejection from vehicle or deformed steering wheel.
adult trauma alert age
blue: anticoagulated older adult > 55yrs
adult trauma alert misc.
red: paramedic judgment, GCS < or equal to 12
blue: blunt abdominal injury
