What does SSAFO stand for?
Silage, Slury, Agricultural Fuel Oil
Rules for silage?
Cannot be made, store or unwrapped within 10m of inland or coastal waters.
What must silage pits have?
Impermeable base extending beyond outside walls.
Impermeable drainage collection channels around the outside flowing into a effluent tank
Rules for slurry?
Cannot be stored within 10m of inland or coastal waters?
Conditon of slurry stores?
Tanks, pits, channels and pipes must be impermeable and meet anti corrossion standards.
Freeboard rules for slurry stores?
- millimetres of freeboard for conrete/steel stores.
750 millimetres of freeboard for earth bank stores
Further rule for earth bank slurry stores?
Must have 1m impermeable soil thickness or synthetic liner.
When should you follow ag fuel oil rules?
1) built a new store
2) made changes to existing store
3) hold over 1,500 litres of fuel oil on the farm
How must fuel oil be stored?
1) In a tank or drum that meets ISO 900.
2) Must be surrounded by a bund or secondary containment structure.
3) must have very part including valves, taps and a lock when shut.
