SODA

A

S - Darwin’s theory of natural selection is well published with huge amounts of supporting evidence. The theory that brain structures that enhance fitness will be passed on as survival traits is supported by what we see in both human and animal studies

O - There is some forms of aggression that do not account for survival value, e.g risking life. Darwin has explained this by KIN SELECTION (may risk the individual’s life but can protect the mates or offspring, helping genes survive)

D - Aggression is projected to others when the id is denied and the super-ego’s hostility is projected outwards. (no scientific evidence, all case-to-case basis)

A - If we have evolved from aggressive animals then aggression is part of our nature and is very difficult to suppress or prevent, meaning methods to limit it, such as counselling, therapy or drugs, are ineffective - 44% reoffending rate in the US within a year of release
