Mission
The mission of the LVMPD is to provide exceptional police services in partnership with the community. Prioritizing the mental and physical well-being of employees enables our department to perform at exceptional levels and build meaningful relationships with community members.
Vision
The vision of LVMPD is for the Las Vegas community to be the safest community in America. This vision is realized by injecting humanity into every interaction and building trust with the citizens we serve.
Values
The acronym “I CARE” is the guiding principle for each and every LVMPD member. This acronym represents the values of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department: Integrity, Courage, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. The values are supported by behaviors, demonstrated by the actions of members, as they live these values. All members are expected to represent the values of the LVMPD while in the workplace and off-duty.

Evaluation Criteria
Below are the criteria that each candidate will be evaluated on during the oral board including application review. Candidates must demonstrate minimum competencies in all listed criteria in order to pass.
- SUITABILITY FOR POSITION: Candidate’s application of the Sheriff’s Priorities; education, training, experience, motivation, preparedness, compliance with policies and procedures regarding equipment (if applicable), and transfer application.
- TECHNICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of functions and role of the assignment; pertinent statutes, court rulings, policy, procedures, and/or rules; operational principles, practices, programs, and/or software.
- DECISION MAKING / INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to make sound operational and/or supervisory decisions and foster positive working relationships.
- VERBAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively verbally, demonstrating clarity, conciseness, logical train of thought, listening skills, professionalism, and appropriate eye contact, vocabulary, and tone.

6 Parts to a Lesson Plan
- Cover Page - (What is the subject, who is the target audience)
- Goals & Objectives - (LIABILITY) must have measurable objectives. This is what we get sued on. Use words such as; demonstrate, recite. Avoid words such as; know, learn.
- Items & materials - (Classroom, projector, speakers, DT mats, etc)
- Instructor guidelines - (Body)
- Bibliography - (Where I got my material from)

(AT focuses on by creating the school, scheduling instructors, reserving facilities, distributing materials & lesson plans).

Position Description
Develop annual training schedules; coordinate classes and instructors; revise and coordinate training programs throughout the department and other law enforcement and commercial organizations; confirm instructor availability; set up classrooms; maintain and update training records, lesson plans, and instructor qualification applications; instruct training classes as assigned; coordinate training programs with private consulting firms, when required; and communicate with NV POST.

What 3 requirements are required to teach and avoid liability?
- Certified - (BID) Limits liability
- Qualified - (DTI, MACTAC, Narcotics etc). Training and experience. SMEs. Cops in specific / specialized sections.
- Authorized (AT & specialized unit / IQA)
IQA
Brief account of training that allows officer to teach listed classes. Must contact specific section for classes and lesson plan content / instruction
