Adult Echo Week 1 Flashcards
What is systemic circulation
The circulation that is 02 rich. Provides blood to tissue and organs
What pulmonic circulation
Connected to right side of the heart. It is deoxygenated blood that is transported directly to the lungs for oxygenation
What is hemodynamics
The study of blood flow
What is pressure gradient
Blood flows through a drop in pressure known as pressure gradients
What is pressure gradient
Blood flows through a drop in pressure known as pressure gradients
What structures does o2 poor blood drain through in the lungs
Blood enters the lungs through the pulmonary arteries, goes through arteries, arterioles, capillaries, venules veins and into the L atrium as o2 rich blood
Avg mass of the heart?
Females = 8oz
Males = 10oz
What is the bifurcation of the heart
Where the pulmonary arteries split into left and right below the aortic arch
Definition of pulmonary veins
Transports reoxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium
Leaflets of the mitral valve
Anterior mitral valve leaflet
Posterior mitral valve leaflet
Papillary muscle names for left heart
Anterolateral pap muscle
Posteromedial pap muscle
