Adrenergic Agents and Blockers Flashcards
Alpha-2 receptors: location, mechanism
Location: presynaptic adrenergic nerve terminals, smc
Mechanism: Gi protein inhibits AC, decreased cAMP, act like blockers
Alpha-1 receptors: location and mechanism
Location: postsynaptic effector, smooth muscles (esp. bv), glands
Mechanism: Gq protein activates phospholipase C
Beta-1 receptors: location, mechanism
Location: postsynaptic (HEART, lipocytes), presynaptic (JG cells)
Mechanism: Gs protein stimulates AC, increased cAMP
Beta-2 receptors: location, mechanism
Location: postsynaptic (smc, LUNGS, cardiac)
Mechanism: Gs protein stimulates AC, increased cAMP
Beta-3 receptors: location, mechanism
Location: postsynaptic especially LIPOCYTES
Mechanism: Gs protein stimulate AC, increased cAMP
D1 and D5 receptors
Increase cAMP thru Gs protein
D2, D3, D4
Decrease cAMP through Gi protein
