2 parties try to resolve the disputes by communicating in a number of forms: text, email or phone. There is no third party involvement and is usually the 1st step in starting a case.

The 2 parties discuss their dispute with the help of a 3rd party which is the mediator. The mediator aims to help the parties come to a compromise solution

Conciliation

Similar to mediation however the 3rd party is a conciliator who has a more active role in suggesting a compromise or a settlement
