Core binding factor AML

A

The “good” prognostic category for AML

Classically inv(16)/t(16;16)

These patients generally do not require bone marrow transplant.

The gene causes constitutive expression of a core binding factor-like protein that sequesters RUNX1, preventing hematologic differentiation past a certain point.

Classically stratified by two factors:
allelic ratio – above or below 50%
and length – above or below 70 bp
