A

Functional measure of speed and balance
Standardised chair pt. to stand from chair, walk 3m to marker turn around and come back
Walk at comfortable and safe pace
Test stops when pt. back is on chair
Very high reliability and validity

DGI (Dynamic Gait Index)

A

A functional gait scale assessing 8 tasks of varying levels of difficulty

EQ:
20 foot walkway, shoebox, cones, stairs

Eight tasks observed are:
1. gait on a level surface
2. Change in gait speed
3. gait with horizontal head turns
4. gait with vertical head turns
5. gait and pivot turn
6. step over obstacle
7. step around obstacles
8. steps

Eight tasks are observed and rated on a four oint ordinal scale:
0= severe impairment
1= moderate impairment
2= mild impairment
3= normal

A score of 24 indicates normal performace
