acoustic impedance Flashcards
1
Q
what is an A scan
A
- A short pulse of ultrasound is sent into the body at the same time a electron beam travels across the screen of a cathode ray tube.
the transducer receives reflected pulses which cause vertical spikes on the CRO screen.
this can be used to work depth and thickness of reflecting tissue in the body
2
Q
what is a B scan
A
a image is halite up from many echoes being recorded on a transducer as bright spots, the greater the amplitude the greater the brightness of the dot
3
Q
what is impedance matching
A
there needs to be similar impedances in order to get a good transmission.
4
Q
what is the gel used for
A
allow the ultrasound to enter the body and not just get reflected and never enter the body
