A&P: Digestive System Flashcards
Mucosa
Inner lining of Digestive Tract
Composed of Epithelium, Lamina Propria, Muscularis Mucosae
Epithelium
Innermost layer of mucosa
Protection, secretion, absorption
nonkeratinized strat squamous joined + tight junction + exocrine cells
Lamina Propria
Connective tissue of Mucosa
Blood supply and MALT (Mucosa Associated Lymphatic Tissue)
Muscularis Mucosae
Outer layer of Mucosa
Thin layer of smooth muscle that forms inner folds to increase SA
Submucosa
Connective tissue binding mucosa to muscularis
Blood/lymphatic vessels, glands, submucosal plexus
Muscularis
Btwn submucosa and serosa
Skeletal muscle layer for voluntary ctrl: swallowing, external anal sphincter etc
Mysentaric Neural Plexis present
Serosa
Outermost covering of organs in ABDOMINOPELVIC CAVITY
Aka visceral peritoneum
***Esophagus has Adventitia instead
what is the largest serous membrane in body?
peritoneum
2 types of peritoneum
parietal and visceral
what organs are covered by retroperitoneal cavity and how?
ascending/descending colons, duodenum, pancreas, kidsneys ANTERIORLY ONLY
what are the 5 major peritoneal folds?
falciform ligament
greater omentum
lesser omentum
mesentery
mesocolon
what does falciform ligament cover?
liver, to the anterior abdominal wall and diaphragm
what does great omentum cover?
transverse colon and small intestines
what does the lesser omentum cover?
connects stomach and duodenum to the liver
what does the mesentery cover?
binds jejunum and ileum to the posterior abdominal wall
