What is cognitive load (general definition)
- Cognitive load is the total amount of resources or mental effort used by our working memory.

What is working memory?
Working memory is a subset of our short-term memory that involves the temporary storage, processing, manipulating, ad association of information. (Ex: Recalling the route you took to reach a certain store in the mall, or recalling a phone number someone just told you).
