Q

what are the differences in the orbit of the moon?

A
  • moons orbit the planets in a circular path

- the closer the moon is to the planet the shorter time it will take to orbit and the greater the speed of the orbit

Q

what are the differences in the orbit of the comets?

A
  • their orbits are highly elliptical or hyperbolic
  • this causes the speed of the comets to change significantly as the distance from the sun changes
  • as is gets closer to the sun is increases and as it gets further it decreases

Q

what are the differences in the orbit of the planets?

A
similarities between
- all orbits are slightly elliptical with the sun at one focus
- all orbit in the same plane
- travel the same direction around the sun
differences
- orbit at different distances
- different speeds
- take diff amount of time to orbit
17
Q

what is elliptical?

A

stretched circles
