Yalta Conference

UN issued this Declaration condemning slavery and torture, upholding freedom of speech and religion, and affirming that “everyone has the right to a standard living of adequate for the health and well being of himself and his family
Geneva Convention
An international agreement governing the humane treatment of wounded soldiers and prisoners of war, which the Axis Powers violated
Nuremberg Trials
Allies prosecuted Nazis for war crimes. Many defendants claimed they were just following orders and Hitler was the source of all crimes, but the judges did not accept their excuses and Nazis were either sent into long term prisons or hung.
Potsdam Conference
Allied leaders decided to divide Germany into four zones of occupation: Soviet, American, British and French, they agreed to new borders and free elections for Poland, and they recognized the Soviet’s right to claim reparations for war damages from the German sector they controlled
Wannsee Conference
Meeting of Nazi officials in 1942 to discuss the “final solution to the Jewish question” resulted in the decision to carry out the systematic extermination of all Jews
