2.1 Flashcards
Population
The amount of animals in the same species in the same area at the same time
Population Density
organisms/area
Population Distribution
The pattern of spacing
Clumped Distribution
Organisms that stay in groups, or clumping
Uniform Distribution
When a population is spread out evenly, most common in plants
Random Distribution
When organisms are randomly spread out, like seeds being thrown and landing in random spots
Random Sampling
of organisms in sample/area of sample
total # of organisms(X)/total area
Mark and Recapture
total marked/# of organisms(X)
total of recaptures w/ marks/# of recaptured
To get the most accurate results, you would do (more or less) trails and attempt to capture (more or less) organisms per capture

Where would sampling work best?
Plants and on things that don’t move
Where would mark and Recapture work best?
Moving organisms
