2 Flashcards
Resistance form
resists fracture
Defensive dent.
reparative
primary and secondary
formative original dentin
Liners
almost flowable - barrier for sealing dentin from restorative material. More important with composite than amalgam. Done to prevent leaky tooth restoration interfaces. Also have electric, thermal insulation.
Copal varnish
amalgam solution liner - most often - 2-5microm.
Adhesive
vitrabond - solution liners - 2-5microm
Suspension liners
20-25microm, any liner based on H20 and have their constituents suspended instead of dissolved - CaOH
Cement liners
200-1000 microm, GI
Eugenol liners
ZOE and B+T
Dentin bonding systems/sealers
optibond solo plus, gluma
IF RDT more than ——- no liner needed
2mm. For younger patients, maybe need a liner here.
How many layers for copal varnish
2 layers, 85% sealed. 1 layer is 55% sealed
Copalite absolutely can only be used with
amalgam
Bases
thicker - 1-2mm - mostly thermal and mechanical protection/support. Provides resistance to amalgam condensation.
Should be about a mm thick at least for strength.
Liner used to seal off all
exposed dentin (can put liner above base)
