1st Class Maths Predicted Paper June 24 3H Flashcards
The scatter graph shows the number of likes & the number of views for 12 videos uploaded by a user to a TikTok account. The user uploaded another video that receives 300 likes. Estimate the number of likes that the video received.
1) draw a rough line of best fit
2) draw a line from the axis to the line to find the estimate
Kian has 1.2kg of butter. Work out the maximum number of flapjacks that Kian can make. Assume that Kian has enough of each of the other ingredients.
1) 1.2kg = 1200g
2) divide 1200 by original volume of butter
3) 1200 / 125 = 9.6
4) times 9.6 by the number of flapjacks
5) 9.6 x 12 = 115.2
6) round to the nearest whole number
7) = 115
1) find x
2) x + 3 + 33 + x = 360
3) x = 162
4) exterior angle for angle ABC = 18
5) 360 / 18 = 20 = n
6) angle ABD = 162 + 3 = 165
7) exterior angle for angle ABD = 180 - 165 = 15
6) 360 / 15 = 24 = m
7) m - n = 24 - 20 = 4
Some bacteria are placed into a Petri dish. The number of bacteria in the dish is set to increase by 0.2% each day. Show that after 1 year the number of bacteria in the Petri dish will have more than doubled.
1) 1.002^365 = 2.073568367
2) 2.073568367 > 2 so the number will be more than double
The equation of line L1 is y = 5x + 1. The equation of line L2 is 10y + 2x = 9. Show that these two lines are perpendicular.
1) L2: y = -1/5x + 4/5
2) 5 x -1/5 = -1 therefore the lines are perpendicular
Factorise fully 2c^2 - 18d^2
1) 2(c^2 - 9d^2)
2) 2(c - 3d)(c + 3d)
Write down the mistake that Richard has made with his box plot.
Richard has plotted the median as 504 instead of 502
Show that the equation x^3 - x - 9 = 0 has a solution between x = 2 & x = 3
1) let f(x) = x^3 - x - 9
2) f(2) = 2^3 - 2 - 9 = -3
3) f(3) = 3^3 - 3 - 3 = 15
4) the change of sign shows there must be a solution between the values x = 2 & x = 3
