(19) ACP - LIVER ENZYME Flashcards
ACP
Acid phosphatase
- Same activity w/ ALP, only differ in pH
- Catalyze the hydrolysis of various phosphomonoesters at an acid pH
- Liberate inorganic phosphate from an organic phosphate ester with production
of alcohol
ACP
Sources of ACP
Prostate gland, RBCs, Platelets, Bones (Osteoclast)
NOTE:
ACP Diagnostic significance:
o Old method to evaluate Prostate Metastatic Carcinoma.
- PSA - currently used to detect Prostate CA.
Forensic investigation of rape
o Prostatic ACP can only be detected within 4 days (pero sabi ni sir 72hrs sksksks)
Added to ACP to differentiate the prostatic form from the non-specific form like RBC acid
Phosphatase inhibitors
inhibits specific prostatic ACP
L-tartrate ions
inhibits red cell ACP
Formaldehyde & Cupric ions
