1.4 Types of data Flashcards
What are quantitative variables/data?
» Variables or data associated with numerical observations
What are qualitative variables/data?
» Variables or data associated with non-numerical observations
What is a continuous variable?
» That can take any value in a given range
» Such as time, e.g 2 seconds, 2.1, 2.01
What is a discrete variable?

What are classes?
» Where the data values in not data shown, but given in a range
What do the class boundaries show?
» Maximum and minimum values that belong in each class
What is the midpoint?
» The average of the class boundaries
What is the class width?
» The difference between the upper and lower class boundaries
