11 - Mechanical Hazards Flashcards

1
Q

The ability to explain or demonstrate which types of mechanical hazards are present in the WTG and how to isolate them.

A

Mechanical Hazards include:
- Rotating parts i.e. Gearbox, Turner Gears, Low speed coupling (all of the drivetrain), Yaw motors/platform.
Applying the rotor lock will isolate the drivetrain and 10 VFD’s in the DC cabinet isolate the Yaw motors. More specific isolation of these mechanical hazards will be stated within the AWP.
- Mechanical Stored Energy i.e. Springs (CB),

Q

The ability to explain the type of stored mechanical energy that can be found in the WTG.
How is stored mechanical energy safely isolated?

A

Stored Mechanical Energy can be found within springs in the WTG. – Must be relieved of pressure before work to be carried out. – AWP specific
