When using affirmative commands, the pronouns are attached to the end of the verb.
Ponla en el armario.
Put it in the closet.
Hazlo ahora mismo.
Do it now.
When using negative commands, the pronouns are placed directly before the verb.
Compra los chocolates, pero no los comas.
Buy the chocolates, but don’t eat them.
Es mi suéter; no te lo pongas.
It’s my sweater; don’t put it on.
Cerrad vuestras maletas; no las dejéis abiertas.
Close your suitcases; don’t leave them open.
When adding the pronoun(s) creates a word of three or more syllables, an accent is added to the syllable where the stress would normally fall.
lava
lávalos
limpia
límpiala
da
dámelo
Hagan las maletas y pónganlas en el coche.
Pack the suitcases and put them in the car.
Busca la llave y tráemela.
Look for the key and bring it to me.
