indications for OCMM
stresses, after birth on a newborn, trauma, after dental work, infant feeding difficulties, plagiocephaly, torticollis, vertigo, TBI, concussion, post CVA, cranial neuropathy/palsies, HA, orofacial pain, otitis media, sinusitis, TMJ, tinnitus
possible side effects from OCMM
HA, tinnitus, dizziness, alteration in HR/BP/respirations, GI irritability
two absolute contraindications for OCMM
- acute CVA or intracranial bleed (<24hrs)
2. acute skull fracture
four relative contraindications for OCMM
- coagulopathy
- SZR history
- incrased intracranial pressure
- certain neuro conditions - be careful not to exacerbate them
four fascial layers of the head
- pannicular fascia
- axial and appendicular fascia
- meningeal fascia (dura)
- visceral fascia
what does SBS stand for?
sphenobasilar synchondrosis
synchondrosis
relatively rigid hyaline cartilage junction
what is unique about the SBS?
the only synchondrosis in the skull (others are symphysis)
