What is the difference between conductive deafness and sensorineural deafness?

A

Conductive hearing loss is caused by a loss in transmission of sound from the outer ear to the inner ear. Sensorineural hearing loss is due to damage somewhere between the hair cells and the cortex.

What is Meniere’s disease?

A

Sudden attacks of dizziness, fluctuating hearing loss, and low frequency tinnitus. Common, but poorly understood. May be caused by overactivity of the middle ear muscles, pushing on the stapes and causing labyrinth pressure to increase, causing the symptoms.
