When a noun is used as a modifier, it is in its singular form
The soup has vegetables in it.

The building has offices in it.
It is an office building
When a noun used as a modifier is combined with a number expression, the noun is singular and a hyphen (-) is used.
The test lasted two hours.
It was a two-hour test.
Her son is five years old.
She has a five-year-old son
The followng are examples of collective nouns:
audience; couple; family
public; crowd; government
staff; commitee; faculty
group; team
When a collective noun refers to a single Impersonal unit, a singular pronoun (it, its) is used
My family is large. It is composed of nine members
When a collective noun refers to a collection of various individuals, a plural pronoun (they, them, their) is used, as in
My family is loving and supportive. They are always ready to help me
