What is greater trochanteric pain syndrome (trochanteric bursitis)?
Due to repeated movement of the fibroelastic iliotibial band
Pain and tenderness over the lateral side of the thigh
Most common in women aged 50-70
What is iliotibial band syndrome?
Common cause of lateral knee pain in runners
Tenderness 2-3cm above lateral joint line
Treat with activity modification and iliotibial band stretches
