Hund’s rule

A

Electrons would rather be in a subshell on their own than share an orbital

A

Electrons have a property known as spin. Two electrons in an orbital will spin opposite directions.

Q

Valence electrons

A

Electrons in the outermost energy level of an atom.
Electrons that participate in atoms reacting to form molecules.
Elements with full valence energy levels are more stable and less likely to react than elements with a valence
energy level that is not full

Q

Core electrons:

A

Electrons in the full energy shells. Core electrons are all the electrons in an atom, excluding the valence
electrons.
