Rubbing lashes due to lid margin fibrosis.
What is madarosis?
Loss of lashes due to hair follicle fibrosis.
What is ptylosis?
Thickened hyperemic lid margin.
What is epiphora?
Overflow of tears on the cheeks.
What is marginal keratitis?
A complication related to the eyelid.
What is phlycten?
A complication related to the eyelid.
What are recurrent/multiple styes?
A complication related to the eyelid.
What is paliosis?
A complication related to the eyelid.
What is the treatment for eyelid complications?
Lid scrubbing with a lid hygiene solution or baby shampoo. Rubbing of antibiotic ointment into lid margin after removal of scales and crusts for 3-2 weeks. Systemic antibiotics in advanced cases.
What is the etiology of parasitic blepharitis?
Phthirus pubis (pubic lice) infestation.
What are the symptoms of parasitic blepharitis?
Discomfort and severe itching.
What are the signs of parasitic blepharitis?
Lashes are covered with black operculated nits and transparent lice, red lid margin.
